When we open our vision to the commonality beyond the specifics of the moment, we see sameness and unity. When we fixate on the specifics in our context, we see difference and division.

Here is the fundamental problem of our increasingly complex and individuating world. To emerge from our states of separation and conflict, we need bridges into no-man's land. We need absolute neutral zones for our meetings.

These bridges are built and these zones are founded not in our concrete world of details — but in the world of generality, in the realm of abstraction. Now, abstraction is not the realm of vague and meaningless.

With abstraction, in stripping away the specific particulars, we arrive at the underlying patterns. These patterns are our bridge of unification. Their castings into different contexts is our diversity. Their stripping into naked principles is our unity.

Basic Patterns of Common Sense and Unified Vision ¶

In these patterns, we find the roots of common sense, primary, even primal, principles beyond debate, self-evident and unavoidably present in all of our concern domains.

We do not debate over opening and closing, over up and down, rising and falling. We do not debate whether all things have their structure, adaptivity, reactivity and relationality.

Nor do we debate over the presence of the basic phases of a lifecycle — for example, broken down as being, seeing, feeling, wishing, willing, working, harvesting, and becoming or culminating. In the so many stations we may pin in these, the universals are there, they apply to all things.

Every process in motion, every object in existence. There are sets of common properties and dynamics that define their general essence. These are the abstract patterns, these are the basis of a unified vision. In cleaving apart the pattern and the details, in extracting the essence, we honour both particularity and universality.

From Peripheral Complexity to Central Simplicity ¶

Instead of preoccupation with peripheral complexity, let us turn our attention to central simplicity. The problems of the world are complex, yes. We are enmeshed in a complex system. However, solutions to problems are rarely discovered on the plane of their generation. We are blinded by our complexities, racking our brains for solutions in our respective silos.

In there, yes, the brightest minds will discover working solutions in their local concerned domains. They will, however, remain restricted and constricted into specific fields of application. In the other silo, they wrestle with the same general patterns, working toward solutions from the peripheries, looking at the concern through a myopic microscope.

Can we not break open these silos and start building bridges into the no-man's land? For the no-man's land is every man's land. Solutions discovered in the realm of generality, principles established on the plane of patterns, and the universality of common sense that follows, is of benefit to no one in particular and everyone as a whole — into your countless specific concerned domains, and for all of us as a whole, as a cognitive collective, as a species seeking to reconcile its existence.

OpenSeeSame — For Decentralized Universal Insight ¶

These are the basic concepts behind the OpenSeeSame initiative. Not a mission or a movement, not orbiting anyone in particular, but for the unfolding of decentralized insight – universal insight and skill, wisdom and means, understanding and operation – of which you, in your respective fields of concern and engagement, are the lenses, are the prisms, are the funnels, are the bringers of resolutions, reconciliation, bringing the no-man's land into your village and turning your village into every man's world.

We all seek the same page, we all seek the same book. This is the abstract book of living patterns. We all read it together, and then we all read it separately, with our respective tunes and flavors. Then, "Open See Same". Open your mind, open your vision, open your heart, open yourself. Rise beyond the claustrophobia imposed by your specific frame.

Seek sameness, rejoin the unified collective, with your unique nature, orientation and abilities. As one of the many lenses of concentration — but also of expansion, as a builder of bridges, as an integrating instrument — as a reconciled node in the unified whole. "Open see same".
